James E. Verbeck, Lender Relations Specialist, joined the Eastern Pennsylvania District Office Team after serving two and half years as a Loan Specialist at the Agency’s National Guaranty Purchase Center (NGPC). Previous to joining the SBA, Jim served as a loan specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Rural Development in Community Programs, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He arrived in federal service after more than twenty years in the financial services industry that included over eight years as a regional chief financial officer with SunTrust Bank, and a senior consulting associate of CS First Boston. Jim holds a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Management Science from Virginia Tech, an MBA in finance from Louisiana State University (the School of Banking of the South), and is a graduate with distinction from the B.A.I. Graduate School of Banking from the University of Wisconsin. Jim grew up in North Hills, PA, and attended Abington High School.
